Ramble that takes in lovely roads, a delicious bakery, cafes in Lambertville and New Hope, and quiet country lanes.

Routedetails

We'll stay on roads for much of this loop. We start in Glenside which provides ample parking and access by train. It takes a while to get out of the suburbs, but our first stop is @poi[Tabora's, a farm market, bakery and orchard](1737658) rolled up into one. 
We @slice[follow the ridge](d,38483.81,54675.42) and then fly down a @slice[scenic, but rapid, descent](d,54746.01,56049.68) to the Delaware River. The crossing to @poi[Bull's Island](1737660) on a pedestrian bridge gives us @photo[lovely views](1428744) of the river. A gentle descent on the broad shoulders of Route 29 takes us to the quaint town of Stockton.  I recommend switching over to the cinder @photo[canal towpath](1428743) for the leg into Lambertville. Enjoy the cafes in Lambertville or cross over into New Hope for more options. Don't forget to enjoy @photo[the vista](1428741)s on both river crossings. 
After New Hope we pass through some lovely @photo[rural](1428736) @photo[countryside](1428738), gradually re-entering the suburbs and arriving back in Glenside.

# Route

* Weekend parking is ample at the Glenside train station. For weekday trips, there are municipal lots and on-street metered parking. [Regional rail](http://www.septa.org/policy/bike.html) accommodates cyclists on off-peak hours.
* Just by @poi[Tabora's](1737658) is the lovely Peace Valley Park with Lake Galena. There are picnic areas, sail boat and canoe rentals. 
* @poi[Bull's Island](1737660) has bathrooms, water and picnic sites. 
* New Hope gets the fame, but Lambertville has just as many shops and cafes. If you didn't overeat at Tabora's here's a second and third chance. You can spend all day in either town. 
* The descent to the river demands payback on the way out of town. Expect a @slice[gradual climb](d,72121.69,77705.57) along low-traffic back roads. 
* Don't be surprised as you leave New Hope if you encounter a @photo[picturesque old-fashioned train](1428739). The [New Hope-Ivyland Railroad](https://www.newhoperailroad.com/) offers a taste of a bygone era.
* There's something very peaceful about the combination of forest and field in this section of Bucks county. You have miles and miles of quiet country roads to enjoy before re-entering the suburbs.

# Notes

* The @photo[vistas](1428737) of the Delaware River are worth visiting in every season. 
* Bring plenty of water. You'll spend long stretches on back country roads. Don't expect convenience stores or gas stations.
* This is a moderately taxing ride with the climb up to and back out of the river valley. Be prepared. 
* As for stops, Tabora's, at mile 24,  has everything you need. Bull's Island has @poi[bathrooms](1737660) and water.  Lambertville and New Hope are a well-stocked oasis. Once you leave them, however, there will be long stretches with homes, but no businesses. 
* There are occasional parks with bathroom facilities. Check the map for locations.
