Routedetails

If you like to take your gravel bike on flowy single track, you're going to love this route. With good bike handling skills and an affection for single track the intermediate to advanced rider will love this route on a gravel bike. There are several sections of chunky loose rock but no steep inclines or downhills. If you aren't comfortable on a gravel bike on this type of terrain, then by all means bring your mountain bike.

Each lap on the route is a little over 9.5 miles. So do as many laps as you want to get your fill!

**About McKenzie Ranch Trails Park:** McKenzie Ranch Trails Park is a 1,700-acre open space park. The ranch is on the far east side of Pima County about 1.5 miles north of Marsh Station Road in Pima County’s Cienega Creek Preserve. The park was built in partnership with the Sonoran Desert Mountain Bicyclists.It is approximately a 30 minute drive from Downtown Tucson. During the right time of the year, the route is surrounded by the colorful blooms of the desert @photo[Ocotillos](16931832).

**Overview of the route:** This route is part of the competitive mountain bike course at McKenzie Ranch and for several years it was also home to the Mckenzie Frenzie mountain bike race. The route is made up of a combination of the 2 main loops in the park: @slice[Lozen Loop](d,0,9423.8)
and @slice[Dahteste Loop](d,9432,15569.7).

Start from the parking area that is on the right as you are driving up Twin Starr Dr. The course is designated to ride clockwise (Runners and hikers are strongly encouraged to go counter-clockwise). Motor Vehicles and dogs are not allowed on the trails that make up this route.

**Route Details:** For essentially the first 2.5 miles of the route, you will be going uphill. After that, it's flowy and fun.

At @point[mile 0.25](d,426.18) stay straight at the trail intersection to stay on the Lozen Loop. You will be on this loop until approximately mile 5.8.

At @poi[mile 5.8](148423013) stay to the left to get onto the Dahteste Loop. You will be on this loop for approximately 3.8 miles until you see the cars in the parking lot.

The course is relatively easy to follow. There aren't many variations
