Scenic beaches. Quaint towns. Jutting headlands where grand forests reach down to the ocean. The Oregon Coast is rightly famous for many things but that list always lacked mountain biking. No longer, as the freshly minted Whiskey Run Trail System is custom built for your riding pleasure, weaving through the well managed Coos County Forest just minutes from the Pacific Ocean.

# Route Details
Easily accessible from Highway 101 and near to the towns of Coos Bay, Coquille, and Bandon, the Whiskey Run Trails provide a variety of loops that allow you to peel off a quick ride during your Coastal Roadtrip or spend hours exploring all the trails so you can hit your favorite descents twice.

A “sampler plate” of the system has you @poi[parking](8507201) at the lower trailhead off Whiskey Run Road and climbing up Dirty Dishes and Hollerback to catch the upper loop of Sour Mash and White Lightening. Continue descending down the bermy, swooping flow of Bootlegger, Captain Blacklock, and Sir Lance-a-lot. A @slice[forest road climb](d,5175.43,6609.24) efficiently takes you back to the top, where you’ll drop into Hollerback, Well Shot, and Dirty Dishes for a grin-inducing rally through the thick, dark forest. Once you’re back at the lower trailhead, finish the ride with @slice[a tour of the berm- and jump-filled trails across the road](d,16195.03,19265.79), pulling off as many quick loops as your forearms and sprint muscles can handle.

Traveling with your mini-shredders? Whiskey Run is nicely set up for a quick, kid-friendly shuttle. With @point[access off Beaver Hill Road](d,6623.42) at the top of the system, it’s a fun roll down the green-rated Hollerback and Dirty Dishes to the lower trailhead, where everyone can pile back into the vehicle and head up for another lap. If your youngsters are on push bikes or limited in gears, try exploring @point[The Snag](d,16292.71) section which is built like an extended pumptrack. It's short enough to not get lost and easy to roll and ride, but fun enough for the whole family!

# Riding Season
While the area rarely sees snow, it gets its share of heavy rain in the winter and spring. Late spring through early fall are the best seasons but a couple days of dry weather, even in January or February, make for prime conditions. Please avoid riding when wet and respect trail closures.
